Elena Chiesa is an Italian videoartist and art director. Currently Art Director and founder of VastaVista group, she has also worked as art director and motion graphic designer.
Her work explores a technique that she herself names “virtual painting” or “melting pixels”. These animations are the result of many metamorphosis of frames worked one by one “melting the pixels” as oil paint. The sum of many transformations creates the fluid.
As she explains: “Listening to poetry, as to a mantra or a song, always brings our mind to create a flow of images, stimulating the creation of visions provoked in our mind and memory by the words or sounds. What I try to produce is this flow. My personal flow”.
Polifemi is a videopoem made from words that describe human relationships starting from a kiss. “When we give eachother a kiss and open our eyes while we do it –Elena explains – we end up seeing weird caleidoscopic images made of eyes mixed with thoughts. What I try to express in this videopoem are these thoughts, the line that our mind follows while meeting Other’s Entity”.
